01
The problem
Water, meals and other small daily records matter, but opening a full health app creates too much friction for a two-second action. The real challenge was not adding more features. It was making the next check-in obvious and immediate.
02
Product approach
I designed the extension around short, repeatable actions: see the current state, log an event in one tap, and understand recent consistency without leaving the browser.
03
Key product decisions
01
One action at a time
Each mode focuses on a single habit so the popup never becomes a crowded dashboard.
02
Local by default
Records stay in browser storage, keeping setup simple and personal data under the user's control.
03
Visible progress
Calendar and count views turn small actions into a pattern users can understand at a glance.
04
From need to launch
01
Identify
Started from recurring personal moments that were easy to forget but too small for a complex app.
02
Simplify
Reduced each habit to the shortest useful flow: reminder, one-tap check-in and lightweight history.
03
Ship
Built bilingual modes, tested the browser popup constraints and published the extension.
05
What I learned
A small utility becomes useful when it respects attention. Clear hierarchy, restrained scope and immediate feedback mattered more than feature count.
